What happened that prompted you to distance yourself from a friend?

First, some backstory. When I was in middle school, I had this group of friends consisting of A, B, C, and Me. A, B and C all knew each other since kindergarten, but I only knew them since middle school. We were all very close until we started school our Freshman year of high school - A started hanging out with some of our other older middle school friends, while B, C and Me all had the same classes and hung out frequently - especially since we were all in band and had marching band practice every day. We all met new friends in high school too, but B C and Me all stayed close.

Well, it came Winter time, and every other year, the marching band goes on a major trip during the school's 2-week Winter break - and this year, the trip would take us to San Antonio, Texas. A few weeks before this, C had recently started dating this one girl who both B and Me were friends with, but she could not afford to come on the trip. This is where the issue starts.

The first two days of the trip was nothing special, we just got to meet people from all across the country in different High School marching bands - which although fun, isn't all that important. The third day of the trip starts and our marching band has practice in the Alamo football stadium - where we would be performing in a few days. We were on break, and B and Me were hanging around some of our other band friends when one of them notices something was up with C. Not just something, but he was hardcore lip-flopping with another girl in our band - C was no more than 10 or 15 feet away from us, so it's not like we were mistaken as to what was happening. One of the people in our little Freshman band huddle thought it would be a good idea to confront C, to which he insisted nothing was happening.

Later that night, B, Me and some of our other band friends saw C lip-flopping yet again with the same girl, so this time we took it to the next level. We had called his girlfriend - who was not on the trip and had stayed home - and told her what was going on with C. She was very obviously sad, and broke up with C later that night.

A month before this trip, all A, B, C and Me pulled an all nighter to watch all 3 Lord of the Rings films back-to-back. This trip was nearly 3 and a half years ago, so you can bet that B and Me had very limited contact with C after that trip.
