what insurance covers valtrex?

I really want to start taking 500mg valtrex daily just so I can feel confident dating again but im not insured and don't have $1200/month.

Name brand Valtrex is particularly expensive and should be avoided. All 3 herpes medications are available in generic form and are just as effective.

If you live in the U.S. then suppressive-dose acyclovir can be purchased at a cost of less than $12 per month when purchased in larger quantities. Even without insurance, that is affordable for most people. With a single prescription you can get a 3 month supply, with enough refills to last a full year.

One of the cheapest places to buy acyclovir is at the Costco Pharmacy. In the U.S. you do not need to be a Costco member to use the Costco pharmacy. Note that acyclovir needs to be taken twice per day for suppression, approximately 12 hours apart, whereas generic valacyclovir (which is what Valtrex is) only needs to be taken once per day but is more expensive.

For current acyclovir prices at U.S. Costco go here: LINK

And note that the standard acyclovir dose for daily suppression is 400mg twice per day, approximately 12 hours apart.
