What makes country singers (like Carrie Underwood) country?

Lil Nas X won a CMA award, too. The only reason it didn't make it on Billboard's country charts is because they considered it to be more rap than country, which is obviously true. That's the same reason all that country rap stuff doesn't make it onto Billboard's country charts. It has nothing to do with race, all to do with the music. You need to realize that not everything has to do with race and identity. Plenty of music fans, including country music fans, thought that was a good song and liked it and have no problem with Lil Nas X, but that doesn't mean that that song is country. It's country rap, I'll give them that, but it's not country music.
