What is a movie ending that makes you cry, no matter how many times you've watched it before?

Three movies immediately come to mind, and all three are due to personal experiences happening during or near the time of watching that movie.

  • Marley and Me; my favorite dog growing up had started experiencing liver failure a month before watching this movie in theaters. First time I absolutely broke down in a public place.

  • Avengers Endgame; “We’re going to be ok. You can rest now.” That line broke me. As a father, always working hard to provide, something inside me snapped and I just couldn’t stop the tears.

  • The Art of Racing in the Rain; absolutely great storyline. I love the storyline. However we had just lost a close friend to a motorcycle accident a few months before. And of course dogs tug at the heartstrings harder than most on screen events. Was a very emotional night on the couch for the wife and I. At least I wasn’t in a theater.
