What is the point of PETA's publicity stunts like this? Really want to have a genuine conversation about PETA.

I've been a passionate vegan for nearly a decade so this post isn't made to "look down" on PETA or activism in any way.

But I do have to wonder how PETA doing campaigns like this helps the vegan cause, if at all. I found this article on Facebook and of course, there were hundreds of people in the comments making fun of veganism, as well as lots of "vegans" commenting saying how embarrassing this kind of thing is.

I can't help but feel like it's counterproductive to the cause, and will just make people take veganism less seriously if they think this is what being vegan entails. (And this definitely is not the first time PETA has done something like this).

I'd love to hear other vegans' opinions and insight. Maybe I'm missing something here.
