What’s the first thought that comes to mind when you hear someone say “I’m a Christian” ?

I’m from the American South, where the towns basically don’t function on Sundays, no one can buy liquor in some places because Jesus, and people are still refused service at many places for being gay.

I have Christian acquaintances and relatives. They are generally nice people, but the constant posting and talking about Jesus does tend to grate. Have food? Thank Jesus. Get out of a speeding ticket? Thank Jesus. Feed a homeless person? Thank Jesus, and post pictures on Facebook with uppity Scripture quotes (you couldn’t just feed the poor homeless guy without taking a picture?!) Jesus on the car. Jesus on their tee shirts. Jesus on the phone case. Jesus on Facebook. Jesus on fucking billboards on the street, saying people like me are gonna go to hell.

If I have to go to hell for not believing in Jesus, fine by me. At least Hell’s not going to have my cousin Cheryl’s dumbass posts about how not celebrating Christian holidays in the US is akin to domestic terrorism. Happy fucking Holidays, Cheryl, from the bottom of my heart.
