What’s a hill you’re willing to die on every time?

it's weird to get pissy if a kid takes too much candy from a bowl you leave sitting out on Halloween.

I saw a video yesterday of someone recording a little girl coming up to the bowl of candy they'd left out and grabbing some, then the little girl comes back (guessing her parents told her to come back and get the bowl?) and dumps the bowl into her bag and runs away. THEN the two people who were standing on the other side of the door, fucking lying in wait, come out and RUN after her and tell her to put it back. if you are running after a child to ask for your Halloween candy back, you have completely lost the plot. if it was an adult, that's different. idk if this was during COVid or not so I can understand that they might not have had much of a choice but to leave the candy outside, but other than that specific situation I can't see why you would leave your candy out if you're so concerned about that. like, you bought this candy to give out. it sucks that they're being greedy, they shouldn't take it, but sometimes you just have to cut your losses. cause once you run after that kid and make them put that candy back, you've ruined their night. idk how you don't feel like the asshole.

idk this isn't that serious but it really pisses me off seeing adults shame children when it comes to candy. 90% of the time the parents are the ones telling them to get it anyway. like yes, they shouldn't do it. but it feels completely against the spirit of Halloween to get mad about it.
