No where in the article did any shop say they increased prices at all. They either sold out or held out and only sold to their regular customers.

The ones making money were hairdressers and middlemen selling on etsy.

The demand did not last long enough for the market to actually react. The demand spiked, some small shops sold out and then the demand went away before they got their next shipment.

The demand did not actually spike enough for big distributors to see an increase more than 1/5th of usual demand before it went away.
