What theory should I read, and should it include Marx?

hell yeah, i think marx is cool. (i feel very differently about marxism as it developed and was taken into action however.) like every 19th century writer marx has bad takes and is a product of his times, but Capital is a very interesting read and you should probably sparknotes it at the very least.

basically, it's arguing that history is mostly shaped by economics, and that economics are shaped by natural resources and labor. often, human suffering has a profit motive involving one of the two. personally, i use marxist materialism like a perspective gathering tool. it's best used as an occasional pair of glasses to view a situation in a new light. especially during colonialism
