What things should tourists know about your city?

Oslo, Norway

  • buy a ticket for the public transport system, it's universal and can be used on all buses, trams, subways and ferries. If you don't have a ticket, and are caught in a ticket inspection it'll set you back around 150 dollars

  • speaking of ferries, do catch a ferry in the summer to one of the islands.

  • we know that it's expensive here

  • don't eat at Karl Johan street, the food is way more expensive than it deserves to be

  • instead, check out some of the cafes, restaurants and bars in and around Torggata and Grünerløkka if you're only here for a few days and are located in the city center

  • the neighborhoods Kampen, Lille Tøyen and the area north of Sofienbergparken are nice to have a relaxing walk in, with wooden houses and small streets, away from the traffic

  • While Frognerseteren restaurant is expensive, you should take a trip if only for the views. Metro line 1 will take you there in 30 minutes from the center of oslo

  • Alcohol is very expensive, so keep that in mind if you want to party
