What will happen to Tom Thibodeau if one of the Big 3 (Wiggins/Butler/Towns) gets injured for significant time?

He’d be heavily criticized since he’s really only running a 10 man team. Butler, Wiggins, Towns playing at least 36 a night. Sometimes one of them hitting 42 min in a night. Teague and Gibson playing like 33 each a game so the bench doesn’t get much minutes like the others in the NBA.

Jamal Crawford, a great key asset for a bench has seen his minutes decreased by like 7. Brooks doesn’t play much anymore, Bjelica’s minutes have gone down. Even Shabazz Muhammad doesn’t play much. Jimmy Butler, a guy who obviously loves playing in big moments and doesn’t mind playing 37ish a night was complaining about fatigue over playing too much. Thibs is a great coach and he knows what he’s doing, it’s just that he needs more guys that can play his way. I don’t see him burning out the trio after this year is finished. He just needs to get bench players that he has confidence in using.

If one of the three gets a significant injury, Thibs won’t be fired, but there’d probably be a urgent push by office to make a complete team from starters to bench to limit this from happening. Obviously an ACL injury could happen to anyone playing 40 min or 3 min (Ray Smith) but it’s much better to limit a youngster or a star player from 40+ most nights.
