What do you wish you had done before leaving for college?

I wanted to go to college when I was your age, but went to rehab instead. It did more for my life than paying college tuition would have. I developed a horrible drinking problem in high school, had a car wreck and a DWI, and was either going to jail or to the graveyard. Finding my way out of that mess was tough, but I did it through learning how to live sober, and with the help of my friends, and my girl.

Then, I got married, and had two babies in two years. Needed to be able to support us, and worked as a bricklayer, then found my calling as a Stonemason, and did that for 50 years. I loved it.

Sometimes, I wish I could have been like you, and gotten to go to college and make friends, live in a dorm or an apartment, and had a good time. But then I would have missed out on the good times I did have, and I would not give those up for the world.

Relax. Enjoy the good times for now. There is nothing to be terrified of. Being afraid of having "regrets" is a waste of time and energy. There is no point in worrying about things that have not happened yet. Focus on today, and make plans for your future. You will be okay.
