What Would you consider a "must-see" for a first time family visit?

Know that Canadas Wonderland will cost you an arm, leg and your first born. It is very much overpriced and expensive.

Niagara Falls is wonderful but if possible try to go during the week. Weekends are swamped with tourists and it is nothing more than a mass of human flesh everywhere you go. Don't forget to check out Niagara-on-the-lake while you are there.

Tim Hortons WAS good, now it is nothing more than generic garbage with an iconic name. It is nothing special anymore and honestly not worth a visit unless you want a quick snack or a coffee.

The ONLY "national park" nearby is Rouge Park, someone in our government decided it would be fun to declare it an "urban national park". The next best thing is Algonquin Park but it is an easy (all highway) 3 hour drive from Toronto.
