What would the world look like without religion?

Religion is nearly as esoteric as science is in regards to the difference between a layman and someone with training and experience.

I know it's easy to look at the religious hate groups and the countless cases where religion has been used as an excuse to kill, oppress and enslave other and think all religion must be bad, but that's a strawman argument.

I'll be the first to admit that religion is an outdated narrative when it comes to understanding the world and the people who live in it, but I'll also be one of the first to stand up defending it for what it is at its core: the search for infinity.

We've long been concerned with the question about the ultimate final state of the Universe, is it finite, or is it infinite, or maybe even some third option that we would have trouble comprehending? To answer that question would be to give us a definitive answer as to the existence of God(s) and/or other transcendental beings far beyond the scope of humanity, and much more. In an infinite universe everything that can possibly exist, exists, including every possible definition of God.

As the final word to all this, I just want to point out that despite the negative press religious groups often get, there are still a lot of religious people out there who do a lot of good things to make the world a better place. It might be a little bit warped when you analyze it because they're doing it for personal gain, but try to look past that. A person who's doing the right thing for the wrong reasons is still someone doing the right thing. We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us, and because of that there really are no good people or bad people, just good and bad actions. The people we think of as good are always capable of doing bad things, and the people we think of as bad are always capable of doing good things.
