What was your 'act cool' moment where you actually got away with pretending everything is fine ?

I tend to panic when thrown into unexpected situations, and I can be the worst at playing it cool when that happens.

In high school, I went to the Penn State wrestling camp with a bunch of the other guys on my school's team. During the camp, they house people in some of the dorms, and when we weren't wrestling we were typically goofing off in these dorms. Someone came up with the idea of freezing a banana, then tossing it in the shower stall that our team captain was in mid-shower. The prank didn't go well for him, but that's beside the point. The main thing is the frozen banana.

We didn't want the banana to go to waste, so we stuck it in the fridge, then promptly forgot about it. The last day of camp, they sent one of the college wrestlers roo check everyone's rooms to make sure they were clean. We kept the place pretty clean, so we weren't too worried. Then we remembered the banana. Five minutes before our room was checked, we opened the fridge and discovered that our frozen banana had melted into a black puddle of slime. We panicked and shut the fridge. We didn't have time to clean it before our room was checked, and we really didn't want anyone to know how gross our fridge was. We decided to play it cool, then clean it out after the room check.

The guy sticks good head in the room, glances from one end to the other, then asks, "Everything all set?" I launched into a really awkward rambling answer about how, yup, everything all clean; even cleaned out the fridge earlier, haha, not that it was messy it anything but, yup, everything all clean now, no messes here. The guy gives me a look like I'm a Jehovah's witness trying to convince him that lizard people walk among us, then says, "Okay," and leaves. My friends made fun of me relentlessly for my efforts.

And yes, we cleaned out the banana goo afterwards.
