What was your biggest "shit, my parents were right" moment?

Realising how much my family cared.

When my Dad came out of prison my Mum actually ended up going in herself. My grandparents (on my Dad’s side) kept us alive throughout this time by helping us with rent, clothes such as school uniforms and shoes, groceries and even toys/books to keep us happy through the rough and frankly traumatic experience. My nana and grandad did this and never expected a penny in return. They kept it a secret from me for years until my Dad slipped up and it hit me hard. My Dad always said family goes beyond anything and I thought it was sappy nonsense but now as I approach university and have seen many friends come and go, it really hit me how much these wonderful people have done and how much they still do for us. Their other grandchildren, including my siblings, don’t visit often but since September I resolved to visit as much as I could to see them and let them know I care.
