What was your "Oh shit, my friend's an asshole" moment?

A few years ago I started a new job and being shy tried to act a bit more confident and joke around a bit to break the ice. One coworker and I hit it off all good until I posted on facebook mild criticism about another staff member leaving me to serve by myself. This coworker went ballistic saying I should have spoken to the person leaving the desk instead of venting on a private message on facebook that only my friends could see and no one else. I had said I was frustrated that was all not that the person was a bag snatcher or anything that could be considered outrageous. one other person joined in agreeing with the other ones every word and started abusing the heck out of me saying suddenly after 4 months that I had said a joke that hurt her feelings One of my true friends who has a fiery temper got involved and shot the 2 girls down saying that I was her best friend and they were Btches and that defused the issue and I thought it was resolved . I thought it over night and decided that I would un-friend everyone I worked with on FB that was like 5 people off a crew of 60. I sent a very polite private message as a group explaining why I had to do it Next thing the 2nd girl started sending nasty private messages saying she could not trust me and would be more wary around me from now on and so on. By now I was very angry but did not let it show in any of my messages to her, I after receiving a couple more messages asked her to stop contacting me via social media and my mobile, She went batt Sht crazy saying i was a child unprofessional and a few other choice words I wont repeat *Note not once had I been rude to her . The Next day, I went to work to see the first girl at reception as soon as I was in the break room she called downstairs to speak to one of the other woman ( Who she previously never spoke to much ) it was spread like wildfire what I had said and made to sound much worse. The first girl had even approached the Union Delegate and He came down stairs when I was on the floor with customers around as he had been told I had tweeted about the union. ( So not his place to do such a thing) I had tweeted about the actions of the first girl being that she was a union representative and having been a union member myself for many years was disgusted and outraged by her unprofessional childish behavior. I had not mentioned where I worked or her gender but after a day off leaving the tweets there I deleted them deciding to contact the Union directly which I did do, They were fantastic and the union were shocked at the behavior of them both especially the head of department/Union delegate doing what he did. The Management also launched action against the head of department as well I am so glad that I no longer have those 2 toxic ladies in my life.
