What, in your opinion, is a realistic solution to gun violence in the United States?

Saying it’s “culture” means absolutely nothing.

I'm european, this is my opinion: many Americans take for granted that it's ok to shoot someone in 'self defense'. All the 'responsible gun owners' are willing to kill. They own a gun and are willing to use it. That's a part of your culture.

That is not the same here in europe. A life has more value here. Sure, people would try to defend themselves, but not as many would be so willing to kill another person, a burglar, an offender. I'm in my 40s, I never had to think for one second that somebody could shoot me.

IMO that is a cultural difference. America is a violent country, many americans are violent people. You grow up with it, you learn these values as children, you are not even aware of it. From the death sentence to your prison system to the media: there is a lot of cruelty in the US that is absent in other developed countries.
