What is your stance on this?

Okay so, hot take, but aren't all MV's technically open world? Technically?

We've got sequence breaking, so linearity isn't really forced in most Metroid games

We've got large, interconnected worlds with lots of backtracking

We've got upgrades and progression

We've got just enough story to make sense of why we're doing what we're doing

Like I'm trying to look at a game like Breath of the Wild or RDR2 and be like "The only things keeping them from being Metroidvanias is there's no platforming" lol

Pitchforks or popcorn, bring it all, bc I'm not really sure what we're going for here with an open-world Metroid game aside from introducing one overworld you explore instead of interconnected areas and adding quests or something.
