What's the best thing that happened in your life?

Possibly finding out I was on the spectrum at nearly middle age... Finally understand who I am and why I act/react in certain ways.

No longer think I'm a freak and seriously broken, which had led to decades of depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts dating back to when I was just 11yrs old.

Stopped acting like I didn't deserve to be heard or seen, cut out the people in my life who were treating me badly and like I 'was' some kind of freak. No longer accept being treated as some kind of lesser human being. Unapologetic for my quirks, and more vocal and forceful about voicing my opinions and stating truths that others ignored and dismissed. Discovering that you've got an IQ in the 140 range and are in the 98th percentile... and that your grasp and understanding of things is often better than the average person... whilst also having some poor social skills at the same time.

I no longer beg for scraps of attention from people who are selfish and inconsiderate, I deserve better than that and won't accept anything less. I'm no longer willing to make an effort with those who refuse to make any.

Feels strange at times to finally feel alive in your 40's
