What's cool/unique about where you live?

Quality public education apparently. My high school had and still has dedicated teachers that care for their students, administration that strives to challenge its students, and a diverse student body that respects academics.

It wasn't until college and Reddit that I realized how exceptional my high school was for offering so many AP classes, all of which were free. And this variety was reflective of the quality of the teachers too. We didn't have just the staples like AP Lang or AP Calc. Depending on student interest for that year and the faculty, we have had AP Music Theory, AP Human Geography, and AP European History while AP CS has become a regular like AP Bio. There have even been talks about making an organic chemistry class, while the adminstration has pretty much done away with on-level Calculus because the students can take the AP Calcs. The teachers meanwhile are very personable that the school had to tighten security because students and alums would sneak in to chat with their favorite teachers. And as a stereotypical nerd, I've never felt a mote of anti-intellectualslism from the "popular kids" because enough of them were picking the same classes we were. Our prom queen ran track and was in the orchestra while the prom king was part of the debate team and didn't play a contact sport. My public education was then pretty cool and even unique being in the South.
