Whats the craziest thing thats happened to you overseas when people found out your American?

Damn, the craziest? Ok, so I was at this restaurant in Italy. It was out in the middle of nowhere, actually, as I was traveling between cities and took a back road. So I'm getting hungry and decide to pull over at the first restaurant I see. There weren't that many places open and the place I chose seemed a tad sketchy. But I went in anyway. I was greeted at the front by the a youngerish woman who spoke no English but my Italian was good enough to get a seat. The place was empty and it had an odd vibe. Soon enough a waiter came over from the kitchen and took my order. He seemed to be lingering a bit more than was comfortable and I could tell he wanted to say something. Sure enough he said "American?"

"Yeah" I said.

"Which part?"

"California" I replied.

"Ah, I LOVE California!"

And then he brought over my food and eventually my bill. It was nuts.
