What's the dumbest thing you've done in the kitchen?

I've got one of those ovens with a "warming" drawer underneath. It doesn't warm shit, so I use it for cookie sheet storage. I can use the oven all day and nothing in there gets hot.

Hit it off with the girl in the apartment above me and offered to cook for her Christmas Eve. Her apartment is an upgraded unit so her over is much newer (and nicer!) than mine. She uses that bottom drawer the same way I do.

Had the oven screaming hot to throw some thick t-bones in to finish after grilling on the stove top. Pulled the drawer open to grab a cookie sheet to transfer the steaks to. Grabbed the entire stack of cookie sheets and immediately dropped them.

Her drawer, being newer, was actually a broiler. She didn't know. I didn't know. I got second degree burns and have no feeling in my first and ring finger on my left hand as a result. Finished the meal like a champ and then headed to the ER. She had to cut my steak up for me, which she found adorable.

I like to think burning the fuck out of my hand and finishing the cooking sealed the deal with this girl, but goddamn it hurt.
