Dealing with the situation with a particular family member. She's deeply troubled, makes extremely poor decisions, and everyone around her is left to clean up the mess. She's like a black hole that sucks everything around into it and destroys it. We took her in to help her get on her feet when she showed up at our door homeless, jobless, carless, phoneless, mentally ill, with two toddlers, and with no prospects. 5 months later, she's trashed our house, burned through all the money we can spare, and worked us half to death trying to help her—and she hasn't shown the slightest signs of progress. We can't have her here forever, and we can't just kick her two toddlers out on the street. Ugh.
