About a year. I was on the younger side (maybe 5 or 6). In that time in my life, I was going through a lot.

My father had officially cut off all contact with me and I wasn't allowed to see my mother at that time for about three months. I had no one to talk to and I felt so alone. I had my siblings but one was 3 at the time and the other was with her father who didn't allow us to contact her, so I just lived with my grandparents.

Even when my mom was aloud to see us, she cut contact for about another month. At this point it has been five months since I've last spoken. My grandparents are worried about me and my teacher was frustrated. When my mom came home I was happy but didn't feel talking to her nor anyone still. It took me the rest of that year to forgive her.

The first words I said once I was back to talking were "can I have orange juice mom?"

She was excited and started to cry because I was finally talking to her again. Today my mom is one of my bestest friends I trust her with my life now. :D
