What's the most moral thing you did?

I understand Moral Oral.

The most moral thing? Can't say, but I'll tell a good story about one of them.

I moved from rural state to the major city of another state with a friend. I was 19ish around this time and I was looking for a new place to find a good job and start a new life - at 19.

Previously, my friend had stolen a car after I got stuck driving in a bean field. Seriously, not as fun as going 60 through a cornfield. But, I drove through it, got stuck and my friend left to go find a ride. He found it and didn't come back for me.

My friend also figured out how to steal a shit ton of car stereos and players from Walmart. But he didn't figure out that they were watching him with cameras. Busted.

My friend also got me my first DUI. I got pulled over because they recognized him and not because they were curious as to why an Escort had softball sized mudballs on it. That's another story but the best part of it was that the cops had their lights on us and I told him to cover the keg with a blanket and the cops never found it. Hahaha, what? No, really...

So, I'm 19 and my friend is a good guy who does really dumb shit. Misguided, broke, poor and looking for easy money is honestly the best way I can describe him.

After all this that I experienced with him I still didn't look down on him... and still don't. He offered me a new atmosphere to create a new life and I took it. I packed up all my things and then... I realized I was just a ride to take him and two of his cousins to the biggest city of the loneliest state.

Oh well, I need a new life. Halfway there and cops flare there lights at me and one of his cousins freaks out because he has cocaine on him. YOU GOT WHAT ON YOU IN MY CAR??? He throws it out and I feel safe pulling over. I even dare the cops to search my car. They did. They pulled out all of my clothes and searched all of my pockets of my clothes and found three seeds. Eight cops and two drug dogs later we were on our way with me having only a speeding ticket. The cousin who had the cocaine, Jesse, erupted with laughter and pulled the cocaine out of his pants. Everyone snorted a line but me as I drove on wondering what have I gotten myself into.

Well fuck, it didn't take me too long to figure out. When we got to the city I pulled into a motel. Jesse had a girlfriend who was the manager of a fast food joint and she got free lodging at the hotel until she found her own place. It had one bed with four guys and one girlfriend. Cue the comedy TV music.

I was there for a purpose; find a job and then get my own place to live. She was there to manage the fast food restaurant. The other three guys? Professional burglars.

These guys used the city as their central location and would hit a different county each week. They would case a small town and when night fell they would hit targets of opportunity. They met someone associated with the railroad who bought their goods - gave them fucking company checks - and then the guy would ship the goods to a much larger city in another state to be distributed and sold in various pawn shops. Their biggest payday was stealing a classic Mustang.

I should have known. All the warning signs were there before I moved up there with them. But I was young, dumb and blind in believing in the good of other people. I didn't like what they were doing so I did my best to try to turn their ways to find an honest job.

I tried, I tried and I tried. Finally they relented and said that they would go with me to find a job. Now, let me just say that I had been searching hard for a job for two months and never found one. Out of generosity the girlfriend of the mix hired me to work for her and I ended up fighting a robber of the store..... where my three roommates went to war to find because that was just wrong to them. Weird times, weird memories...

So, they relented and all four of us went into the big city to find jobs. I thought we should find the job service center, a state provided program, and we asked 20 people and got twenty different directions. No shit. We went to each of those addresses and never found it. After a day of not finding it we returned and Jesse said, "I guess God didn't want us to find honest jobs!"
