"What's the point of getting married?"

No, you were always one. You just revealed it here. ;)

I'm not shooting myself in the foot. Do I seem like I care about reddit karma? Of course if I start criticizing a social norm harshly I'm going to get looked at funny. That doesn't make me wrong. It just means I'm saying something less than socially acceptable. Other comments that were perfectly harmless got downvoted too. Like the guy down below talking about his aunt of 40 years screwing his uncle in a divorce.

I'm talking about it because I want to. Nothing more.

You started off reading sexism into comments that weren't sexist at all, and you treated me rudely because of it. THEN I snarked back and said something you didn't like. Guess what? You were rude first, you have no grounds to complain if I get rude back because of it. As you yourself said, words have meaning. When you misrepresented my argument in a condescending manner you threw the first punch. I just threw the stronger one.

You provided no evidence. Statistics are evidence. What you put up was a policy that may or may not be followed. And I've seen it not be followed first hand. Setting aside I see unfairness IN the policy if you can't provide statistics showing that it's actually being followed to the letter you've backed nothing up.

I've obviously struck a nerve or insecurity somewhere. You're spewing venom so fast you might want to stop and make sure you breathe. :)
