This girl was your stereotypical preppy cheerleader, she was very sweet and well liked. Fast forward several years later and she's in a persistent vegetative state due to her attempting suicide.

Looking back, there were a lot of signs of her being abused at home. My teenage brain didn't exactly know what was up but something sure wasn't right. A guy who dated her would often be on the phone with her after a spell of her family abusing her and she would threaten to kill herself. To my regret, I thought she seeking attention and blew it off as nothing. She went from "nice sweet girl" to "psycho chick" pretty rapidly. She was also a gifted entertainer, and later on as my friends and I grew, it became clear that her dad pushed her to do it for his benefit. I don't know the details, but eventually her and her father had a falling out, she was done with him so to get some sort of vengeance she went on into a short career in porn. She quit that after a couple years and things only got worse for her as time went on. She was found almost dead with little to no brain activity whatsoever. Her parents told people that her boyfriend at the time tried to kill her and that's the reason for her current state.

And to be perfectly honest, that might very well be what happened but with the knowledge of her past, the fact that there was no attempt to find the guy that attempted to kill her, and that most people who kill by strangling their victim don't just stop at a certain point and go "good enough", I am inclined to believe she attempted suicide and survived.

Whatever happened then, it put her in the situation she is in now, and it's just sad. I saw a picture of her recently and it was disturbing.
