What's something your employer did that instantly killed employee morale?

I was given as a first job at my new job a location photoshoot. I was asked to do it about a day before and involved creating a banner, ordering some cardboard cutout and then setting up location studio and photographing what was essentially scumbag casino goers drinking.

I completed the job using an entry level slr with studio lighting and roamed around with onboard flash.

The quality of the images was not great. I don’t put it down to the camera, tho it played a role in it, I do put it down to the pressure of doing it without any assistance, also the fact I had to work shifts in te studio before, dealing with customers and restoring images, making prints etc. So no real let up over the two days in preparing.

My boss came into the studio a few days later and said in passing before leaving “and you wanted to be a photographer”

It crushed my moral and confidence in doing a job like that again. It also drained over time my interest in working as a photographer.

On the bright side I now run the business.
