The way I REALIZED my kink is a little weird. It was actually through hypnotism. I read this trashy romance novel when I was little, it featured some weird alien being who could mind control women when he put his tentacles on their skin. Most of the book was about intergalactic politics but there was one chapter where this dude (I now realize) raped a woman via this weird tentacle power. As a little kid I just thought, ok, he made her into it so she was into it and it's all good.

Then I started having weird dreams about being hypnotized and forced into sex. Didn't know wtf was going on but I knew I would feel tingly when I woke up. Started having more and more detailed fantasies about being tied up, chained, and forced into doing things via mind control. I think I was maybe 9-10 at this point.

Went through puberty, forgot the weird dreams I had as a kid, thought about normal stuff and decided boys were pretty cute and I'd like to hold hands and kiss them.

When I was like 17 or so I remembered all those weird dreams I had had as a kid. I did some googling and realized that I was definitely NOT the only one who had those fantasies and there was a lot of stuff out there. Discovered I still very much had an inclination for them, but in the process I realized it was less hypnotism-specific and more about the power balance involved in being forced to do something.

Now I have a healthy understanding of my kink- forced submission in a trusting and safe way. The funny thing is that in my normal sex life I am usually the dominant, or at least equally aggressive partner. But if I ever feel safe enough with someone and know them well enough, I might bring up my role play idea.
