Was renting a house with my boyfriend, who happened to be extremely abusive and violent. He fucked me up really bad and then decided to leave. The landlord did an inspection for him and was all 'no worries mate stuff looks great' and then just a week later, he came back and yelled at me about the state of the house and demanded I clean it as well as give the bond back. It's the fact that he let my ex off the hook for a house in the same condition as it was when he inspected me, and the fact that he saw I was vulnerable and exploited me. I was shaking when he yelled at me, because for 6 months I'd been yelled at and violently abused by a man in this same house. I'd even told the landlord that - 'I'm sorry I'm just nervous I've been in a really abusive relationship.' I was very young, 18 at the time, and I think he exploited a power imbalance between us to get some extra money and that was bullshit. Even if he truly wasn't happy with the place, he could've politely asked that I return the bond, or asked it of my ex. No need to scream at a tenant who is half your size and has openly admitted to recently being abused.
