Shyness? I'm not sure i ever had that. And no more awkward than anyone else, really.

Early childhood for me. I stopped talking, selective mutism, for a year, when i was like.. 1.5-3. No one could get me to talk. I dont remember this, but i do have memories from that time. Fucking weird ones. I remember being at home, and hiding under the kitchen table--where people would leave me alone. Anyway, one way when i was under there i saw a HUGE fly, just monstrous, stuck in the curtain by the window. It was easily the size of a half dollar. I thought for a second, 'i need to tell someone, they need to see this'--and thought about telling my sister, who was at the time watching TV not far away, and then decided 'no, no one can hear me talk'--i think that's a memory from that time when i refused to speak.

I did other things. If i saw more than one friend at a time come over to play, i'd run and hide under my parents bed and demand they tell them i wasnt home.

I had friends and stuff until the end of 4th grade, and after that point (10), pretty much never again. There was a clear shift. It just got progressively more ... like this
