Regardless of how you feel about the future iterations of the iPhone, you have to realize that it was absolutely revolutionary at the time. It was the first truly usable phone with a full screen.

Blackberry was king of the world then. All their phones had keyboards and they scoffed at the idea anyone would prefer a digital keyboard.

I know now it’s hard to justify the upgrades now because each model is only slightly better than the last but Apple is literally suffering from success.

The problem with the iPhone is not that Apple can’t make technological breakthroughs. It’s that it has to make them and then replicate it a few billion times for each device. The absolute massive scale of production is mind boggling.
