It feels really difficult imagining any artist hitting 1 mil in a week these days. I’m not even sure if Taylor could. Folklore was a surprise drop and included the merch bundles to inflate its numbers and was around~800k. The year before, Lover had the long rollout strategy with radio singles and actually sold less than Folklore first week. If Scorpion didn’t hit it, I have a hard time seeing Drake get there again - that albums numbers were boosted massively by Gods Plan and Nice for What being HUGE! Maybe there’s another strategy artists find to boost numbers ala the merch bundles that allows artists to reach that again, but the way albums are selling the last couple years, I would be shocked to see 1 mil first week

Don’t get me wrong though, I definitely hope it happens again! One person mentioned Adele and she may be the only artist who I think could feasibly accomplish this these days!
