Who gets to wear cool outfits?

Great post, great topic.

I feel like "cool" outfits and new trends are somewhat accessible for me. I mostly thrift and shop online because a lot of the clothes I like are far too expensive for me. The fast fashion trends are very easy for me to get into, though.

How closely do I fit the "ideal" mold.. well, I am young, somewhat athletic build, I am tall (5'8). I am white/hispanic. I have tattoos and a more "alt" appearance. Definitely NOT wealthy, lol

My body, age, and race don't really come into play based on how I dress. I do enjoy wearing crop tops and shorts, and I might not if I was self conscious about my body.

I'd like to believe I don't fall victim to the mindset that bodies make the outfit cooler. If the outfit's cool, the outfit's cool. Period

It's hard to say what I do to challenge that mindset because it never really occurred to me people feel that way about other people's bodies. I don't understand why people care so god damn much. Just let people wear what they fucking want. On the other hand, I know it's not that simple and there will always be judgmental assholes. When people make a comment about someone else's appearance, no matter what it is, I always say something like "who cares?" and that usually shuts them up lol. I genuinely believe people should wear whatever the fuck they want and this world would be so much more fun if people did.
