Who got too famous way too quickly?

I volunteered for Invisible Children (the charity org that started it all) in high school and university, up until the Kony affair blew up. Club on campus sorta died after that. The org spent some money on building schools and other related causes, but you can't do that much when it comes to child soldiers, so most of the money actually went to marketing/awareness. This isn't uncommon when it comes to charities, though this was definitely a charity aimed at younger students mobilizing grassroots movement without a clear final direction or stable assurance that your money was going somewhere useful. Kony 2012 (let's spread awareness in a situation where awareness is /completely useless/) was the epitome of this, though I still think people blast Invisible Children for the weong reasons.

I met Jason, the guy who went loco, when he came to speak at my school. He was a) sunburnt as hell, b) seemed nice but distant and exhausted--and this was months before Kony 2012. I also happen to know that he's super Christian and married his middle-school sweetheart, so I believe he had good intentions going in. So I feel bad for him when I read about people blasting him on reddit, but the idea of Kony 2012 itself? Still got what it deserved.
