Who is tired of the New Mexico/Albuquerque is ‘poor’ talk track?

My man, I have seen first hand the positive benefit swimming can produce in the individual, which in turn benefits community in a positive manner.

Swimming teaches commitment. Discipline. Accountability. It is a sport that an individual can enjoy from cradle to grave, and is excellent for every part of the body. I am not bashful in believing if more swam, our communities would be stronger. I feel that the more opportunities a child in New Mexico has to swim, and potentially swim competitively, our State would benefit both directly and indirectly. Michael Phelps? If a child swims through high school, it will benefit their lives in a positive manner. Hell, if a child has more opportunity to swim recreationally, it will benefit their lives in a positive manner.

I call bullshit on you. You may have been involved in swimming in 1989, but you aren’t now. If you were, you would see that the popularity of swimming is 10 fold what it was in 1989, even 2001, not to mention there are just more people now on general. It’s only logical that this community needs another Aquatic center. It’s a quality of life thing.

I would attempt to go in the tangent on how the business community could positively benefit from holding large regional club swimming events at an aquatic center that could support such a venue, but with you, what’s the use?

So grind your ax, I’m done trying to talk logic in 2023 terms to a dude who is clearly stuck in another century. And once again, UNMs pool can’t support large venues like the NMAA State Swimming Championship in 2023 or any years going forward.
