[WHYBLT?] What Have You Been Listening To?

I've never done this before, so feel free to hate everything I write as it's probably not that good. Anyway-

Gotsu-Totsu-Kotsu: Legend of Shadow (2013) - I heard the song Harakiri a few weeks ago (and loved it) but haven't fully gotten around to listening to this band's other work until recently. From what I understand, "Gotsu-Totsu-Kotsu" is a legendary samurai figure (correct me if I'm wrong?) and the band classify their own music as "Samurai Metal", which I guess is sort of like the "Viking Metal" some of the Scandanavian bands play, but Japanese. All I know is it sounds like thrash with brutal death vocals. I honestly can't understand a word the vocalist says, because not only are his growls insane but they're in Japanese too, but I have mad respect for him, as he's also the bassist, and is a beast on his instrument. I think this song's intro is a good example of that. The guitarist also never fails to impress, and the band deserve way more exposure than they get.

Forefather: Curse of the Cwelled (2014) - I've never heard the word "cwelled" used before, (in fact, Google searching the word just brought up links to Forefather), but I really like this album. I'm new to Forefather's work, but I find their concept of "Anglo-Saxon" metal really refreshing and intriguing, similar to GTK's Samurai metal stance. I can't really classify these guys into a genre that seems to work for me, but it doesn't matter. I love the guitar and I really enjoy their use of both harsh and clean vocals, such as in this song.

I'd give both bands a listen if you dig the Viking metal/pagan metal sound, but are bored of their usual subject matter.
