Wiggins is averaging 20.9 PPG Post All Star Break

He's covering the opponents top wing every game, hell Rubio is a great defender and Wiggins was switched onto CP3 the other night. I've watched every Wolves game this season and Wiggins is already a great defender, easily the best defender on the team and comparisons of him becoming Paul George on D look like they'll pan out.

I can't really see what rebounds, assists and minutes have to do with defence. Rebounds are generally either because you are near the rim when the ball goes up - which isn't likely if you're covering the 2 or 3 - or are grabbed off of long shots when the ball travels outside of the restricted zone (Rubio has a great nose for the long boards which is why he's averaging 7 Rbds since coming back from injury). Wiggins role currently is generally to leak and try and lead a break (again because Rubio is such a good rebounder and is generally easily found or pulled down the board so can outlet quickly) and on offence his role is to cover the other team's best wing so often has to get back straight away to stick with his man rather than chasing O rebounds. Basically his lack of rebounding has more to do with how the Wolves are playing the game rather than Wiggins failing.

Likewise our offensive sets don't often involve Wiggins, they're largely either about getting a big the ball under the hoop or about Martin or Neal coming off screens. Wiggins at the moment is getting most of his points from isos or increasingly from posting up. Once he catches the ball the play is most often dead and there aren't a lot of players cutting or movement to create assist opportunities.

Wiggins to some degree is still being brought along slowly. At the start of the season he didn't have much of a post up game (or at least had little confidence in it). Now he's looking really solid in post up situations. I like the way Flip has handled him. Instead of trying to teach guys 5 things at once Flip seems to settle on one thing then gets the guys to work on that until they're proficient and have it down pat and then move onto the next skill they need (he has done the same with LaVine). Now that Wiggins is looking confident in the post, I have little doubt Flip will start adding wrinkles to get other guys free so Wiggins can pass out to them for easy shots.

Of course being so knowledgeable I'm sure you're already well aware of all this.
