Will learning languages become futile one day with technology constantly upgrading?

Totally agree with this. I work with professional translation software for my job and don’t see us being replaced by machines anytime soon. Yes, you can program in certain rules, such as “Hi should always be translated as Ciao” or “Gehen means to go”. But if the text says “Hi” instead of “Hello”, that translation rule doesn’t show up. “Go” changes to “He goes” and the software flags “Er geht” as an error. Even when we use automation, we still ask two linguists to check and revise the file, and they often have a bunch of corrections for style and readability. Translation requires quite a bit of critical thinking beyond a dictionary and a set of rules.
