Wondrous China - Happy Lunar Near Year!

Hi r/civ.

Just for fun, I wanted to try a game as China to celebrate the Lunar New Year. I'm not really a super experienced player (only just over 100 hours logged so far), so please feel free to ridicule the decisions I've made so far. I am playing on Small Continents Plus, Huge, Prince, Standard size.

I was happy that I got a coastal start with some easy to access (in terms of techs) luxuries that can generate some good gold. Seeing that I was completely surrounded in forest/jungle, I got greedy and skipped military entirely. Because the first ruin I found procced Pottery, I started Shrine > Scout > Monument, which I don't normally do. This gamble paid off as I was able to find Hanoi at around turn 30 and steal their worker, bring it back to clear some forests for my Temple of Artemis rush, and get the first religion of the game to boot.

Also during my scouted I noticed a bit of a desert peninsula, and decided to get a Petra city there. I built a settler after ToA, and did my best to jump-start Shanghai by building a granary and buying a worker and any hills to build mines on to push for production. Luckily, a Golden Age hit around the same time I was bringing Shanghai online and building Petra. I also managed to get Hanging Gardens in Beijing (aiming for a science victory).

Unfortunately, I have met quite a few warlike Civs so far. I think I might be heading for Chu-Ko-Nu soon.

I've also managed to get my 3rd city up and am pondering locations for my fourth. There are no more unique luxuries left on my little section of the world, so I am thinking of just blobbing close to Beijing for defensive purposes.

Overall I am happy with the wonders I have been able to secure so far, and the fact that I have been left to do so in peace. But I'm not sure how much longer that will last. I hope to finish this game soon in celebration of the holiday, but its like 4:30 AM here and I managed to stop hitting "next turn" long enough to post this. I hope everyone enjoys the start enough to load up your own game as Wu for the holiday!
