"DAMMIT STEVE" I heard from down the hallway. All around me were frantic screams and the shuffling of papers. "HOW CAN WE BE OUT OF CAFFEINE!". This was not a normal occurrence at the World Stock Exchange, but damned if this wasn't the most tragic day. Let me give some back story. It is the year 2167, where the world has been in a severe depression and the only resource we were abundant in was caffeine products, and could produce caffeine products at a near light speed rate. Our world's water and air supply was severely polluted from continued fossil fuel emissions and our mineral, agriculture, and other industries were becoming depleted. The caffeine industry was our last chance to surge back. With a gleaming hope, and with our severely scarce ability to communicate to the masses, we broadcast radio signals to those who could still produce electricity. We advertised the investment in caffeine products, as it was the last thing keeping us alive and demand would be high. Everyone poured their life savings into caffeine stocks. But we overestimated our reserves as we ran out in a matter of a couple days. In this time span, the CO2 levels rose above safe. Our only resource is depleting as we are swallowed by the CO2 polluted air. Riots ensue as the news is breaking at the World Stock Exchange. After I heard the news, I curled up under the desk I have worked at since I was 21 straight out of university. I wait for my last acidic breath to come as I watch people go from running around in complete shock, to them falling at the mercy of polluted air. My life flashes before my eyes as the CO2 strangles my breath and melts my skin. As least I pass away knowing that I didn't leave anyone behind, and I fought until my last toxic breath.
