Seth MacFarlane isn't the showrunner for Family Guy anymore though, nor is he a full time writer for the show. He has previously said that he hasn't written for Family Guy at all since 2010 so it hardly seems like a fair comparison.

I believe Alec Sulkin is the current showrunner (and Steve Callaghan before him) so I would think it would be more make more sense to compare his style to Dans? Unless they were talking about how MacFarlane used to run the writers room in the earlier seasons?

Or did you mean that he doesn't care enough about the show to continue being the showrunner? Because that's true I guess, but I imagine Dan would have burned out if Community continued for that long as well...
