Let's say that in the bible times, people did actually live to be a very old age, somewhere in between 400 and 100 years. Well, at some point, they would have /so much/ life experience, that they'd be able to see the future. Not literally, but metaphorically, in the same way that you did just now. Someone who's 15 would probably look at this picture and not think too much of it. After some years of life experience, you've been able to look at this picture and determine a pretty good probability of what will happen in the future with this young man.

Now, here's my point: It's all pattern recognition.... After 10 years or so of life experience, you can recognize patterns in people's behavior, and in a sense, you can predict the future.

Well, what about 100 years? Or 200? After 200 years, your pattern recognition would be so good, that you could 'see' pretty far into the future. Seeing the actions and behavior of people, you could more and more accurately predict what that person will do in the future. Eventually, after centuries of practicing, you could reach far into the future, 'prophesying' what the future holds, and doing it through one of the nature's most basic instincts - pattern recognition.
