1F progressively worse, high sustained fever, hospital stay

You’re doing fine mom, she will not remember any of this. Kids are very resilient. Went thru similar ordeals with both my kids...who are now in their 30s. My toddler son had severe croup, swollen esophagus. He was hospitalized in a oxygen/humidity tent for 4 days, clear liquid diet. The shrillest nurse kept threatening to start an iv if we didn’t keep his diaper wet. Poor kid was starving but all he was getting was grape juice and amoxicillin. Then they stuffed him into a clear tube for neck X-rays. His sheets were constantly soaked from humidity, purple from the juice and pink from the antibiotics. My 2 yr daughter had chicken pox, with a 105 fever and vomiting. We had to beg our pediatrician to let us go to the ER on a Saturday. First Er Dr was snippy, chastised me for letting her have a bottle....I was trying to keep her hydrated. We too had to hold her down while they tried to get blood and she screamed bloody murder. They were hinting at leukemia or scarlet fever. Tylenol wasn’t working on her temp. Thankfully there was a shift changed and a Godsend of a new ER Dr approved Advil....her temp came right down. Bloodwork eventually came back normal. Take a deep breath, you’ll both get thru this.
