1v1 play in this game is a stalemate due to the faceoff design.

No, I'm saying that if kuxir could play against himself, the version of himself that sat in the net on faceoff would have a significant advantage.

Think your sitting-goalie train of thought through all the way. So kux 1 sits in goal and kux 2 approaches for kickoff. kux 2 sees kux 1 setting himself up in a defensive position in net and so slows down to dribble. He approaches the goal with the ball on top of his car ready to flick into an undefended corner at a moments notice. kux 1 has no momentum, does he sit tight right until the moment kux 2 flicks and then go for the save? What if kux 2 fakes? Does kux 1 come out to challenge before kux 2 flicks?

By your logic kux 2 always saves the goal and then somehow always manages to counterattack for an easy goal, but can you explain how on earth that would happen? Are there any real world examples of it?

Also lets assume for a moment that the RL ranking system is fairly accurate, then you play ranked 1v1s and get matched with someone around your level. Then you should be able to wipe the floor with them? Surely your sit in goal and counterattack and win every time? If not, then why not?

Your logic also fails across a number of sports examples. Take boxing, or any martial art for example. By your logic, the ideal tactic for any boxer would be to retract to his own corner and wait for an onslaught before countering. This is simply untrue, by backing down they lose flexibility. Do they open themselves up for an attack every time they throw a punch? Yes. But through skill and judgement this is how matches are won.
