I [29F] took care of my MIL [50F] after her accident but stopped because she was horrible to me. Did I do the right thing?

She used to say to my partner "If I don't learn to walk again I will commit suicide." Now of course I understand her situation was exceptional and I can in no way relate to the way she felt but regardless of that it really messed with my partner.

I'm sorry. Your MIL is a paraplegic from an accident and she's obviously insanely depressed and crying out for help to the people closest to her, and you're worried about how that statement is going to make your partner feel, and you think she should have, and I quote "kept her mouth shut?"

What the fuck? I can't even get past this in the post, because it's like you're a robot with no feelings. The woman just lost her goddamn legs. Of course she's going to be suicidal. Jesus.

But apparently according to you she's supposed to bottle her grief over losing her legs all up inside to make your partner's stressful job more convenient? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

I get that this woman may have been unkind to you, but that is an atrociously cruel sentiment.
