This might sound childish/fucked up and I'm sure there's smarter individuals that can give you better advice on this so don't listen to me but I can't think of anything else that doesn't involve breaking the friendship. You could perhaps try matching with someone on tinder of the same ethnicity as your friend and go on a date with them, make sure you take some pics/selfies with him. When you have your baby, you can show them your pics/chats and say it was someone you briefly dated but he was very toxic and lives in a different state, and he knows about the baby but doesn't want anything to do with it. If your friend is suspicious and wonders if the baby is his, you can always show him the pics and also tell him you took a pregnancy test just in case and it was your ex's. Sorry if this is dumb, but it makes sense to me.
