i’d argue that only 8% of muslims hold extremist views given the data you provided, which may be close to accurate for all we know. it wouldn’t justify any actions against muslims as a group so i’m not sure why you think it would be bad (double edged sword in your words) to show this data for either group.

you have to think of the question in the poll as well. if your government started committing genocide, would a suicide bombing against that threat be justified? so some might think answer with a resigned sometimes depending where their head is at, and what type of person they are. i think extremism is inherently present in all “groups”, or more accurately, in humans. 8-9% sounds about right to me, but we each live in bubbles of people with like backgrounds, so it may not seem so common based on your personal anecdotal evidence.
