6 Year old is deathly afraid of shots

I'm sorry you are dealing with it tonthe extremes of the pukes. My 4 year old haaaates shots and she screams and kicks and cries and call me a bad parent but I do all the dirty work (my husband has never had to take kids for shots or anything). Now that is is 4, she understands that okay, this is why I am getting the shot, if we explain it to her. Does she cry? Yes. Does she kick? Yes.

Do we have some bad ass nurses who just deal? Oh yeah. And they are quick.

Explaining the reasoning why helps. Dumb, I know but there is a Daniel Tiger episode about visiting the doctor that helped too. We talk to her about if she sits still it goes faster. Most of the time she says something hurts but really it's the bandaid pinching afterwards.

I usually give options- do you want mommy to cover your eyes or no? Do you want me to hold you tight or do you want to sit next to me?

We do annual blood draws too with our doctor. Starting at age 1, we go to the lab to get blood work done. Last year it took me and two nurses to do a drawn on my 1 year old. Usually it takes that many for my oldest too. We just had one last week and through the crying and screaming we managed.
